Traffic arrangements for Charity Walk on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements on Hong Kong Island to facilitate the Community Chest Island Eastern Corridor Charity Walk to be held on Sunday (September 27).

     The charity walk will start at Victoria Park at about 8.20am and finish at Quarry Bay Park at about 11.20am.

     Special traffic arrangements to be implemented are as follows:

(A) Road Closure

Phase One

The following roads will be closed between 4am and 12noon:

1. A section of eastbound Island Eastern Corridor from Victoria Park Road to the Taikoo Shing Ramp;
2. Hing Fat Street slip road leading to eastbound Island Eastern Corridor; and
3. Man Hong Street slip road leading to eastbound Island Eastern Corridor.

Phase Two

The following roads will be closed from 7am and 10am:

1. A section of northbound Hing Fat Street between Causeway Road and Gordon Road;
2. A section of southbound Hing Fat Street between Wing Hing Street and Lau Li Street;
3. A section of Electric Road between Yacht Street and Hing Fat Street near Park Tower (Except for Peak Tower);
4. A section of eastbound Lau Li Street between Hing Fat Street and Electric Road;
5. A section of westbound Lau Li Street between Ngan Mok Street and Electric Road; and
6. Tsing Fung Street.

The following roads or partial of roads may be closed from 7am onwards subject to traffic and crowd situation:

1. A section of Lockhart Road between Cannon Street and Great George Street;
2. East Point Road;
3. Great George Street;
4. A section of Paterson Street between Kingston Street and Great George Street;
5. A section of westbound Kingston Street between Gloucester Road and Paterson Street;
6. A section of northbound Gloucester Road from the U-turn loop underneath Tai Hang Road Flyover to Kingston Street;
7. Sugar Street; and
8. A section of southbound Gloucester Road between Great George Street and Causeway Road.

Phase Three

The following roads will be closed between 7am and 12noon:

1. A section of Tong Shui Road between North Point Estate Lane and Java Road; and
2. North Point Estate Lane.

(B) Traffic Diversion

Phase One

1. Traffic along Victoria Park Road heading for eastbound Island Eastern Corridor will be prohibited and vehicles will be diverted to Gordon Road and Electric Road;
2. Traffic along northbound Hing Fat Street heading for eastbound Island Eastern Corridor and Eastern Harbour Tunnel will be prohibited and vehicles will be diverted to Gordon Road and Electric Road;
3. Traffic along eastbound Java Road heading for eastbound Island Eastern Corridor and Eastern Harbour Tunnel will be prohibited and vehicles must go straight forward to Java Road;
4. Traffic along northbound Man Hong Street heading for eastbound Island Eastern Corridor will be prohibited and vehicles must turn right onto Java Road; and
5. Traffic coming from northbound Canal Road Flyover along eastbound Gloucester Road heading for eastbound Island Eastern Corridor or eastbound Victoria Park Road will be diverted onto Victoria Park Flyover and southbound Gloucester Road.


Phase Two

1. Traffic along southbound Hing Fat Street heading for Tsing Fung Street will be prohibited and vehicles must turn left onto Wing Hing Street;
2. Traffic along eastbound Causeway Road heading for Hing Fat Street will be diverted to eastbound King's Road;
3. Traffic along westbound King's Road heading for Hing Fat Street will be prohibited and vehicles will be diverted to westbound Causeway Road;
4. Traffic along westbound King's Road will be prohibited from turning left onto Tsing Fung Street;
5. Traffic along eastbound King's Road will be prohibited from turning right onto Tsing Fung Street;
6. Traffic exiting from Park Tower carpark will be diverted to use the section of Electric Road and Yacht Street;
7. Traffic along Ngan Mok Street will be prohibited from turning left onto westbound Lau Li Street and vehicles must turn right onto eastbound Lau Li Street;
8. Traffic along southbound Electric Road heading for Hing Fat Street will be prohibited and vehicles must turn left onto Yacht Street (except access for the Park Tower);
9. Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street will be prohibited from turning left onto Sugar Street if necessary;
10. Traffic along Paterson Street will be diverted to turn left onto eastbound Kingston Street if necessary;
11. Traffic along eastbound Lockhart Road heading for East Point Road and Great George Street will be prohibited and must turn left onto Cannon Street if necessary; and
12. Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road heading for eastbound Causeway Road will be diverted to Tai Hang Road Flyover, westbound Tung Lo Wan Road, northbound Moreton Terrace and eastbound Causeway Road if necessary.

Phase Three

1. Traffic along Shui Kuk Street heading for North Point Estate Lane will be prohibited.


(C) Suspension of parking spaces at Hing Fat Street Carpark

Hing Fat Street Carpark including disabled parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces will be suspended between 12.01am and 1pm.

(D) Restriction on access to or from carparks and hotels on closed roads

Vehicular access to or from the carparks at Great George Street and Park Lane Hotel may be closed from 7am to 10am. Vehicles parked in carparks within the closed areas will not be permitted to leave the carparks during the road closure period until the roads are re-opened for normal traffic.

(E) Suspension and relocation of Green Minibus (GMB) and Public Light Bus (PLB) Stands and Taxi Stands

The GMB and PLB stands and taxi stands at the following locations will be suspended/relocated from 7am to 10am if road closure is implemented at the following roads:

1. Paterson Street; and
2. Sugar Street.

(F) Suspension of Taxi Stands

The following taxi stands will be suspended from 7am to 10am:

1. Electric Road near Yacht Street; and
2. Lau Li Street near Hing Fat Street.

(G) Suspension of Tin Hau Public Transport Interchange

Tin Hau public Transport Interchange will be suspended between 7am and 10am.

(H) Suspension of metered parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces

All metered parking spaces, parking spaces and motorcycle parking spaces including disabled parking spaces at the following roads will be suspended between 6am and 12noon:

1. Tsing Fung Street; and
2. Lau Li Street.

Motorists are advised to take heed of traffic signs and follow instructions of Traffic Police at the scene.
