Members of the Transport Advisory Committee (TAC) at a meeting today (September 22) were briefed on the latest progress of the Central-Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link project.
"We learned of the latest progress made in taking forward the Central-Wan Chai Bypass and Island Eastern Corridor Link project, which will provide much needed relief to the congested Connaught Road Central/Harcourt Road/Gloucester Road Corridor of Hong Kong Island.
"We note that the Administration is taking forward full steam the design and other preparatory work for the Trunk Road tunnel with a view to commencing the construction works at end 2009 for completion in early 2017.
"The early implementation of the project has our full support," TAC chairman, Ms Teresa Cheng Yuek-wah said.
