Fatal Traffic Accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a traffic accident on the Tsing Kwai Highway in Tsing Yi this afternoon (September 20) in which a 76-year-old taxi driver was killed.

     A truck driven by a 34-year-old man was traveling along Tsing Kwai Highway towards Tsing Yi at about 2pm. When reaching near Lai King, its front right tyre flattened and the driver stopped his vehicle on forth lane, a taxi driven by the 76-year-old man traveling in the same direction reportedly lost control and rammed into the truck.

     The taxi-driver sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital where he was certified dead at 2.35pm. Three male taxi-passengers, aged from 29 to 42, were injured and were also sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South are proceeding. Anyone who may have seen the accident or who has any information is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3661 1300.
