The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
The delegation of the Legislative Council completed its visit in Zagreb of the Republic of Croatia. During its one-and-a-half days' intensive programme on September 16 and 17, the delegation met with various Members of Parliament, government officials and representatives of non-governmental organisations.
On September 16, the delegation met with the Head of Department for Neighbouring Countries and South-east Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and representatives of two non-governmental organisations.
On September 17, the delegation attended six sessions in the Croatian Parliament. It had fruitful exchanges with members of various committees of the Parliament, officials of various political parties and heads of caucuses, as well as the Secretary General of the Parliament. The delegation also attended a lunch hosted by the Croatian Interparliamentary Friendship Group with China, and toured the Parliament Building.
Despite the tight schedule and heavy agenda, the delegation had completed its visit in Zagreb successfully and rewardingly. The delegation's hard work had even impressed the Croatian-English interpreter doing the interpretation for the delegation, and she remarked that in her past 17 years' service in the Parliament, she had not seen a delegation that was more diligent and well-prepared than the delegation of the Hong Kong Legislative Council.
The delegation will depart for Rijeka of the Republic of Croatia today (September 18).
