Smooth implementation of catch-up pneumococcal vaccination to children
***********************************************************

More than 15,800 children born between September 1, 2007 and June 30, 2009 had joined the catch-up pneumococcal vaccination programme organised by the Department of Health, a department spokesman said today (September 14).

"About 7,100 kids received vaccinations during office hours of Maternal and Child Health Centers (MCHC) from September 1 to 12 while about 8,700 received vaccinations on the past two Sundays (September 6 and 13).

"Those having a scheduled vaccination appointment at MCHC between this September and November will get the catch-up vaccination on the same date.

"For those not having a scheduled vaccination appointment at MCHC during the period, their parents or representatives should go to MCHC during their opening hours to obtain an appointment on Sunday," the spokesman said.

The public can call 2125 2125 to obtain details of the vaccination programme. The telephone line operates between 9am and 5.30pm from Monday to Friday, and on those Sundays when the MCHCs are open.
