The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, met Taipei City Mayor Mr Hau Lung-bin today (September 14) to share experiences on organising large-scale international sports events, and exchange views on sports and cultural co-operation between the two places.
Mr Tsang is the President of the 5th East Asian Games Planning Committee, while Mr Hau also serves as the President of the Taipei Organising Committee of the 21st Summer Deaflympics.
At this morning's meeting, Mr Tsang said he had visited Taipei in April in his capacity as the Hon. Head Delegate of Delegation of HK and Macau Buddhism, during which he had visited various cultural facilities and met relevant officials. He was pleased to know that cultural co-operation between the two places had gradually been strengthened since then.
¡§I hope that the two places will further enhance collaboration in culture and sports, complementing each other and exploring areas for future co-operation,¡¨ Mr Tsang said.
Mr Tsang visited the Songshan Sports Centre, and the Taipei Stadium specially designed and built for the Games.
Mr Tsang will attend the closing ceremony of the Games at the Taipei Stadium tomorrow and return to Hong Kong on Wednesday (September 16).
