A grand parade in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China will be staged in Sha Tin on September 20 (Sunday) at 10am to give people the chance to share in the joy of the occasion.

The event is jointly organised by the Sha Tin District Office and Sha Tin District National Education Committee, and sponsored by Sha Tin District Council. The parade will feature a series of unique performances by more than 600 performers from nearly 20 groups. Highlights include traditional Chiuchow dance, thousand-hand bodhisattva, golden dragon dance and traditional floats.

The East Asian Game mascots Dony and Ami will also join the ceremony to greet the public. After the ceremony, the performing groups will set off from Sha Tin Sports Ground and parade along Yuen Wo Road to Sha Tin Town Hall Plaza.
