A spokesperson of Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) made the following announcement regarding the death of a critical human swine influenza (HSI) patient today (September 7)ĄG
A 71-year-old male patient with a history of lung cancer developed flu symptoms and was admitted to the Infectious Disease Centre via Accident & Emergency Department of PMH on September 1. Positive result of HSI was confirmed on the same day. The patient was treated with Tamiflu and antibiotics. During hospitalisation, the patient was put on ventilation support. His condition continued to deteriorate and he was certified dead at 3.50pm today (September 7).
The case has been reported to Hospital Authority Head Office and Centre for Health Protection. We would like to express our condolences to the patient's family.
