Canhealth Pharmaceutical Ltd, a local licensed proprietary Chinese medicine (pCm) manufacturer, is today (September 4) recalling a pCm named "Berlin Strong Hepamine Capsules 380mg" from the market.
The product was found to have exceeded the microbial limit by the Macau Health Bureau during a recent market surveillance.
The Department of Health (DH) called on members of the public not to buy or use the product.
The spokesman said, the batch number of the concerned product is "080405". Investigation is ongoing.
He said, according the Chinese Medicine Ordinance, a pCm must fulfill the registration requirements, which include microbial limits.
Members of the public who have purchased the product are advised to stop using it, dispose of or return it to the manufacturer.
He said: "They should seek medical attention if feeling unwell."
The manufacturer has set up a hotline (2414 3995) to answer enquiries.
DH will monitor the recall.
