Release of Primary School Profiles 2009
***************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on Home-School Co-operation:

The Committee on Home-School Co-operation (CHSC) today (September 4) uploaded the e-version (in Chinese and English) of the Primary School Profiles 2009 (Profiles). The printed version (in Chinese) will be delivered to kindergartens and kindergarten-cum-child care centres for distribution to parents with children at K3 level of the current school year.

The Profiles 2009 contain information provided by individual schools showing the position as at April 2009.  The profiles cover basic information of more than 500 local primary schools, such as teaching staff information, school facilities, class structure, school life, extra-curricular activities and school characteristics.

With comprehensive school information as well as the "Three Steps in Choosing a Primary School", the profiles aim to facilitate parents to make informed choice of primary schools.

The e-version of the profiles enables schools to update their information on the web direct, whenever necessary, and parents can obtain the most up-to-date school information.  According to statistics, the number of browsers was about 1.8 million, while the number of page view was nearly 16 million per year.  This reflects the popularity of the e-version.

The profiles are divided by districts.  Parents of children who will study at Primary One level in September 2010 will receive the printed version of the profiles for the district in which they live through their respective kindergartens or kindergarten-cum-child care centres.  For children not attending kindergartens or kindergarten-cum-child care centres, their parents may obtain a copy from the School Places Allocation Section of the Education Bureau.

The public can access the e-version by visiting the Primary School Profiles Website on (http://www.chsc.hk/primary).  Copies of the printed version will be available for public reference at District Offices, public libraries, Regional Education Offices and the Central Resources Centre of the bureau.

For enquiries about the profiles, please call the Education Bureau's Regional Education Offices (Hong Kong: 2863 4646; Kowloon: 3698 4108; New Territories East: 2639 4876; and New Territories West: 2437 7272) or the CHSC Secretariat (3698 4376).
