The following is issued on behalf of the Tuen Mun District Council:
A pyrotechnics display and beach concert will be staged in Tuen Mun on September 19 (Saturday) in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Tickets for designated viewing zones will be distributed tomorrow and Sunday (September 5 and 6).
The display will start at 8pm on September 19 and last for 20 minutes. To be shown at the sea off the Tuen Mun Promenade, the pyrotechnics display can be viewed from the promenade and beaches in Tuen Mun, including Butterfly Beach, Golden Beach, Hong Kong Gold Coast Dolphin Square, Cafeteria Old Beach, Cafeteria New Beach, Kadoorie Beach and Castle Peak Beach.
A large-scale beach concert will be held at Golden Beach and Cafeteria New Beach from 7.30pm to 10pm on the event day.
In view of space constraints and public safety concerns, people planning to view the pyrotechnics display at the Tuen Mun Promenade, or participate in the concert at Golden Beach and Cafeteria New Beach are required to obtain tickets in advance. Ten thousand tickets each for the display and concert will be distributed to the public.
Tickets to enter the Tuen Mun Promenade viewing area will be distributed from 2pm to 5pm tomorrow at the ground floor of Tuen Mun Government Offices and the ground floor of Butterfly Bay Community Centre.
Tickets for the beach concert will be distributed from 2pm to 5pm on Sunday at the same locations.
Tickets will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. Each person is allowed a maximum of two tickets. The designated viewing zone is clearly printed on the front of the tickets, and post-event public transport arrangements can be found on the back.
No tickets are required for other viewing zones (inlcuding Butterfly Beach, Hong Kong Gold Coast Dolphin Square, Cafeteria Old Beach, Kadoorie Beach and Castle Peak Beach). However, the public should follow crowd control measures implemented by the Police and organiser at the scene.
In case of inclement weather, the events will be postponed to September 20 (Sunday). People are advised to pay attention to announcements by the organiser.
