The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, will leave for London this evening (September 3) to attend the G-20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting as part of the Chinese delegation.
Mr Tsang will be accompanied by the Deputy Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Mr Peter Pang.
The meeting, to be held on September 4 and 5, will identify priority areas for the G-20 and review the progress made since the last leaders' meeting in London.
Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors will also discuss, among other things, topics relating to future sources of growth, building a sustainable recovery as well as actions taken and further actions required in respect of the macro-financial response to the financial crisis.
Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong on September 6. During his absence from Hong Kong, the Secretary for Development, Mrs Carrie Lam, will double up as Financial Secretary.
