Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) spokesperson made the following announcement today (August 31):
Since August 28, seven staff members (two doctors, three nurses and two supporting staff) of a surgical ward have been confirmed to have human swine influenza (HSI). The staff work in the same ward and presented with flu symptoms from August 26. They attended the Accident and Emergency Department of TMH and Pok Oi Hospital for treatment and were granted sick leave immediately. They are all in stable condition.
TMH has traced the close contacts of the staff in the hospital, and Tamiflu was prescribed. The hospital has conducted HSI tests for all patients who have fever symptoms in the ward, and no patient has been confirmed with HSI so far. Patients and their families have been informed about the situation. The hospital has enhanced the infection control measures according to the HA Infection Control Guidelines and will closely monitor the condition of the patients and staff. Patient service remains normal in the ward.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
