Hongkong Post today (August 31) announced that a set of stamps on the theme of "Centenary of Customs and Excise Service" will be released on Thursday, September 17. Associated philatelic products will also be available from the same day.
2009 marks the 100th anniversary of the Customs and Excise Department (C&ED). To commemorate this important milestone, Hongkong Post will issue a set of four stamps, using monochrome photos juxtaposed with colour images to spotlight the past and present of the C&ED undertaking different enforcement functions.
Official First Day Covers at $1 each will go on sale at all post offices from September 3. The stamps and the associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices from the same day. This information will also be available on Hongkong Post's website at (www.hongkongpost.com). Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from September 3 to 9.
