The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam, officiated at the opening ceremony of the HOPE Support Service Centre for Ethnic Minorities, operated by the International Social Service - Hong Kong Branch, this (August 29) afternoon. Located in Wan Chai, the Centre provides support services to ethnic minorities with a view to facilitating their integration into the community. The centre is one of the four support service centres for ethnic minorities operated under the funding grant of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau (CMAB). The CMAB has earlier granted funds for four non-governmental organisations to establish and operate four such support service centres. The funding involves a total of up to $16 million per year to fund their operating expenses, and a total of up to $8 million as one-off start-up costs. Photo shows Mr Lam speaking at the event.
