The Highways Department today (August 28) invited tenders for Widening of Tolo Highway/Fanling Highway between Island House Interchange and Fanling (Stage 1- between Ma Wo and Tai Hang)
Tender submissions should be placed in the Government Secretariat tender box in the lift lobby on the lower ground floor of the Central Government Offices (East Wing), 20 Lower Albert Road, Hong Kong. Closing date is noon on October 23.
Under the invitation to tender gazetted today, the works mainly comprise:
(i) widening of a section of Tolo Highway/Fanling Highway of approximately 3.5km long between Ma Wo and Tai Hang from the existing dual three-lane carriageway to a dual four-lane carriageway, with standard hard shoulder on both directions of the carriageway ;
(ii) widening of the interchange sections at Tai Po North Interchange and Lam Kam Road Interchange from dual two-lane to dual three-lane; and realignment of the associated slip roads at the interchanges;
(iii) construction of eight vehicular bridges and modification/demolition of the existing bridges;
(iv) construction of carriageways on proposed vehicular bridges, at-grade carriageways and access tracks;
(v) ancillary works including drainage and sewerage, geotechnical and landscaping works, construction of water-mains, installation of fire hydrants, construction of noise barriers and retaining walls; and installation of traffic control and surveillance system; and
(vi) routine road maintenance works.
The works are scheduled to begin in January 2010 and will take about 37 months to complete.
The Major Works Project Management Office of Highways Department has appointed Hyder-Arup-Black & Veatch Joint Venture to carry out the design and to supervise the construction works.
