The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, will visit Sichuan from August 31 to September 2. During his visit, Mr Tang will inspect the progress of post-quake reconstruction projects funded by Hong Kong. He will also attend the opening of Hong Kong-funded schools and hold a working meeting with leaders of the Sichuan Provincial Government.
Accompanying Mr Tang will be the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Stephen Lam; Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), Mr Mak Chai-kwong; and representatives from the relevant bureaux and departments.
Mr Tang will return to Hong Kong on September 2. During his absence, the Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen, will be Acting Chief Secretary for Administration.
