The Financial Secretary has re-appointed Mr Brian Ho and Mr Keith Lui respectively as the Executive Director (Corporate Finance) and Executive Director (Supervision of Markets) of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) for a term of three years with effect from tomorrow (August 28).
The re-appointments were made under the authority delegated by the Chief Executive pursuant to the Securities and Futures Ordinance.
Announcing the appointments today (August 27), a government spokesman said both Mr Ho and Mr Lui had extensive regulatory experience in the securities and futures field.
"They have contributed significantly to the work of the SFC. We look forward to their continued dedicated service to the SFC in the new term", the spokesman said.
Mr Ho has been working in the SFC for more than 15 years, and was appointed as the SFC's Executive Director (Corporate Finance) in August 2006.
The functions of the Executive Director (Corporate Finance) are to assume full management responsibility for the Corporate Finance Division of the SFC, including overseeing takeover and merger activities, corporate proposals and disclosures, and matters relating to listed companies and the listing of securities.
Mr Lui has been working in the SFC for more than 17 years, and was appointed as Executive Director (Supervision of Markets) of the SFC in August 2006.
The functions of the Executive Director (Supervision of Markets) are to assume full management responsibility for the Supervision of Markets Division of the SFC, including the supervision of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) and its clearing houses, and strategic planning for and development of market infrastructure.
At the same time, the Financial Secretary has re-appointed Mr Lui as a member of the Risk Management Committee (RMC) of the HKEx for a term of three years with effect from tomorrow. Mr Lui was first appointed to the RMC in August 2006.
The RMC was established in March 2000, with the statutory role of formulating policies on risk management matters relating to the activities of the HKEx and its subsidiaries for consideration by the Board of HKEx.
