"Foreign Affiliates Trade in Services Statistics for Hong Kong"
With increasing globalisation of the world economy, it becomes popular for firms of an economy to deliver services to customers in another economy through setting up affiliated companies abroad.
In view of the growing importance of services supplied via this mode, C&SD has developed a statistical framework for compiling relevant statistics, known as foreign affiliates trade in services (FATS) statistics. This feature article introduces the statistical system for compiling inward FATS statistics, and presents selected inward FATS statistics for Hong Kong in 2007. It also gives a brief account of the development of Hong Kongˇ¦s outward FATS statistics.

"Statistics on Sectoral Concentration"
A wide range of statistical indicators can be compiled from the results of annual economic surveys conducted by C&SD for analysing the business situation and performance of various economic sectors in Hong Kong. Among others, statistics on sectoral concentration can throw light on the extent of business concentration within individual sectors.
This feature article analyses the extent of business concentration in selected economic sectors of Hong Kong by making reference to the Concentration Ratios and Herfindahl-Hirschman Indices compiled in terms of business receipts in 2006 and 2007.
