Four employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (August 21) pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $88,000 on behalf of 52 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     The four defendants, 668 Hong Kong Limited trading as ¤j¦Ñ·Ý¯ùÀ\ÆU, Unimex Manufacturing Limited, Start Plan Investments Limited trading as Aberdeen Kam Moon Lau Restaurant and Hong On Construction Engineering Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $41,611.13, $22,890, $17,428.05 and $6,640, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs  of $180, $156, $165 and $96.
