The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in July showed an increase of 193 cases over June, representing an increase of 0.1%, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (August 12).
Total CSSA caseload at the end of July stood at 290,104 (see attached table), with a total of 487,806 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed a decrease of 0.1% to 34,201.
Single parent cases registered a month-to-month increase of 0.1% to 36,962.
Low earning cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 0.5% to stand at 15,882.
Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $18 billion for 2007-08.
