CP signed MOU on ECISP in Guangzhou (with photos)

     The Commissioner of Police, Mr Tang King-shing, today (August 10) led an eight-member delegation to visit Guangzhou to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the setting up of an ¡§Electronic Communal Information Sharing Platform¡¨ (ECISP) for tripartite police from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

     Also attending the signing ceremony of the MOU were the Director General of Guangdong Public Security Department, Mr Liang Weifa, and the Secretary for Security of Macao, Mr Cheong Kuoc Va.

     The objective of setting up the ECISP is to strengthen the capability of the tripartite police in combating cross-boundary crimes. It will also help to enhance the working relationship and strategic cooperation of three sides with a view to maintaining the law and order of the community.

     Speaking at the signing ceremony of the MOU, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Tang King-shing, said that the ECISP provided an effective platform for the tripartite police to share information and to enhance the effectiveness in prevention of crime.

     ¡§The platform is established on the principles of strict compliance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and the local legislations,¡¨ he said.

     ¡§With mutual understanding and support, a tripartite consensus was finally reached after numerous exchanges and discussions in respect of the content, network infrastructure and system security of the platform,¡¨ he added.

     After the signing ceremony, the tripartite working group will discuss the issues to be raised in the next meeting which will further study the details of the platform content and system technology.

     The Hong Kong delegation will be back tomorrow (August 11).
