The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (August 7) on the road works of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities (HKBCF). The scheme will provide carriageways connecting the proposed HZMB HKBCF with the proposed HZMB Hong Kong Link Road, the proposed Tuen Mun - Chek Lap Kok Link and the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
The proposed works include :
(i) construction of a road network consisting of at-grade carriageways, road tunnel and viaducts interconnecting the proposed HZMB HKBCF, the proposed HZMB Hong Kong Link Road, the proposed Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link and the HKIA;
(ii) reclamation of government foreshore and sea-bed to form approximately 6 hectares of land at southeast of the HKIA for the proposed carriageways and road tunnel connecting the proposed HZMB HKBCF with HKIA, and the ancillary works;
(iii) construction of carriageways, footpaths, footbridges and public transport interchange within the HZMB HKBCF;
(iv) temporary closure and reconstruction/ modification/realignment/extension of sections of the existing carriageways/ road junctions and footpaths inside HKIA;
(v) permanent closure and demolition of sections of the existing carriageways/road junctions inside HKIA; and
(vi) ancillary works including site formation, slope, drainage, water supplies, utilities, landscaping, and electrical and mechanical works; and construction of amenity areas, central reserves/refuge islands, maintenance subway, and facilities for tunnel operation.
The work will start in August 2010 for completion tentatively in 2015-2016.
The plan and scheme of the works are available for public inspection at the following government offices during office hours:

(iv) Islands District Office Mui Wo Sub-office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, G/F and 2/F, Mui Wo Government Offices, 2 Ngan Kwong Wan Road, Mui Wo, Lantau Island;
(v) Islands District Office, Cheung Chau Sub-office, G/F, 22 San Hing Street, Cheung Chau; and
(vi) District Lands Office/ Islands, 19th Floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central.
Any person who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both, should write to the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, Hong Kong, on or before October 6.
