Hong Kong was spared of major damage during the passage of Severe Tropical Storm Goni today (August 5). As the storm is moving further away from the territory, the No. 8 Southeast Gale or Storm Signal was replaced by the No. 3 Strong Wind Signal at 3.40am.
Stage I of the Secondary 6 admission procedure will proceed as scheduled.
Public transport companies will resume normal service. As at midnight, three passenger arrival and one departure flights were cancelled, while 12 passenger arrival and five departure flights were delayed.
No report of flooding, landslip and fallen trees was received.
A flood watch warning for Sheung Wan, issued by the Drainage Services Department last night (August 4), is still in force this morning.
A total of nine people, including seven men and two women, aged between 5 and 46, have sought medical treatment at the Accident and Emergency Departments at public hospitals. Among them, three were discharged, one stayed in hospital in stable condition, and the rest were awaiting treatment.
During the passage of Severe Tropical Storm Goni, the Home Affairs Department has opened 25 temporary shelters, providing shelters to 153 people.
