The Hong Kong Observatory issued the No. 8 Southeast Gale or Storm Signal at 9.40 pm yesterday (August 4). Goni is expected to be rather close to Hong Kong in the next few hours.
Peak tram services and most bus services have been suspended.
From 9pm to 11 pm yesterday, three passenger arrival and one departure flights were cancelled, while 12 passenger arrival and four departure flights were delayed.
The Home Affairs Department has opened 24 temporary shelters and as at 11.30pm, 119 people have sought refuge at the shelters.
No report of flooding or landslide has been received.
