Appointments to Advisory Committee of Cantonese Opera Development Fund

     The Government today (August 1) announced appointments to the Advisory Committee of the Cantonese Opera Development Fund for the period from today to July 31, 2011.

     The Cantonese Opera Development Fund, launched on November 27, 2005, aims to raise fund and support research, projects and activities to promote and sustain the development of Cantonese Opera. It also complements the work of the Cantonese Opera Advisory Committee, an advisory body appointed by the Secretary for Home Affairs, by supporting projects initiated by the Cantonese Opera Advisory Committee.

     The fund was set up in accordance with the Secretary for Home Affairs Incorporation Ordinance (Chapter 1044). The Secretary for Home Affairs as the Trustee of the Fund and the Chairman of the Advisory Committee has re-appointed eight members and appointed two new members to form the new term of the advisory committee starting today.

     The advisory committee advises the Secretary for Home Affairs on matters relating to the administration and management of the fund, such as encouraging the community to support the fund, monitoring the operation and reviewing the effectiveness of the use of the fund.

     The list of members of the Advisory Committee of the Cantonese Opera Development Fund is as follows:
