Anti-drug activities for youths during summer holiday
*****************************************************

The Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau, the Action Committee Against Narcotics (ACAN), Commercial Radio 2 and Skyhigh Creative Partners will jointly organise a series of activities during the summer holiday to steer youths away from drugs, as part of the ¡§Be Smart Be Free No Drugs No Nightmare¡¨ publicity campaign.

An open-top bus will take members of an anti-drug dance squad through the streets and selected karaoke shops to promote anti-drug messages.

The promotion bus will tour different districts in the territory on Saturdays and Sundays in August.  Members of the dance squad will play the new anti-drug theme song by Canto-pop group FAMA.  They will also visit crowded areas to distribute promotional leaflets and invite members of the public to dance and chant anti-drug tongue twisters together.  In addition, the squad members will play games, dance and sing anti-drug songs with youths in several karaoke shops.  The performance will be video taped and footage will be uploaded onto a thematic website for online voting.  Awards will be given to winning voters.

Another project to be launched this summer is a lyrics writing contest.  Contestants are required to choose a popular song and rewrite its lyrics with anti-drug content.

Shortlisted contestants will earn a place in a six-session lyric-writing workshop.  After completing training over a fortnight, they will be assigned songs for which to compose lyrics.  Their work will then be adapted to produce new anti-drug songs which will be aired on Commercial Radio 2.  Audience members who are good at imitating the voice and vocal style of well-known pop singers will be recruited to perform the songs.  These simulated versions will be mixed with the original version performed by the pop singers in game segments of Commercial Radio 2.  Awards will be given to members of the audience who can distinguish the original version from the simulated one.

The anti-drug dance squad will hold its debut bus parade on August 1 in New Territories West.  Its itinerary is below:
