A one-off additional payment will be made to recipients of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) as well as recipients of Disability Allowance (DA) and Old Age Allowance (OAA) under the Social Security Allowance (SSA) on August 5.
A Social Welfare Department spokesman said today (July 30) that it was part of a new package of relief measures to help the disadvantaged as announced by the Financial Secretary on May 26. The Finance Committee of the Legislative Council subsequently approved the allocation of $1.8 billion on June 19 for implementing the measures.
¡§The amount of the one-off additional payment for CSSA recipients and that for DA and OAA recipients are equivalent to one month¡¦s standard rate payable according to different categories of recipients (such as elderly persons, children or able-bodied adults) under the CSSA Scheme, and one month's DA and OAA respectively.
¡§The money will be paid through the existing CSSA or SSA payment method, i.e. through bank payment credited to the designated bank accounts. Welfare recipients are not required to make application for the additional payment,¡¨the spokesman added.
