CEDD awards contract for Kai Tak development infrastructure works (with photo)

     The Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) today (July 28) awarded a contract of about $350 million for Stage 1 infrastructure works at the Kai Tak north apron area.

     The contract comprises construction of about 2.6 kilometres of roads within the project site including traffic control, maintenance and diversion of existing roads, two footbridges, associated drainage including box culverts, sewerage and water mains works, enhancement and extension of existing subways, landscape hardworks and softworks, and environmental mitigation measures.

     The main objective of the works is to provide infrastructure to serve the public housing and government offices developments at Kai Tak.

     The works will begin on July 31 and are scheduled for completion in about 41 months. The works will create 306 jobs, comprising 243 for labourers and 63 for professional/technical staff.

     The works have been designed by Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Ltd, which will also supervise the construction.
