The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, left for Ganzhou, Jiangxi, today (July 27) to get first-hand knowledge of the municipal government¡¦s latest policy to attract Hong Kong-owned enterprises in Guangdong to relocate their production bases to Ganzhou.
Mrs Lau will visit the Ganzhou Economic-Technological Development Zone and an export processing zone, as well as some local enterprises.
Located in southern Jiangxi and adjacent to Guangdong Province, Ganzhou is one of the sites earmarked for the relocation of the processing industry under the national policy to optimise the industrial structure.
Mrs Lau will also exchange views with municipal government officials on measures to facilitate co-operation between Hong Kong and Ganzhou enterprises in the purchase of goods, with the aim of helping Hong Kong enterprises to develop and tap the Mainland market.
She will return to Hong Kong tomorrow night (July 28).
