The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in June showed an increase of 311 cases over May, representing an increase of 0.1%, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (July 22).
Total CSSA caseload at the end of June stood at 289,911 (see attached table), with 485,183 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed an increase of 1.3% to 34,250.
Single parent cases registered a month-to-month increase of 0.1% to 36,932.
Low earning cases showed a month-to-month decrease of 0.8% to stand at 15,962.
Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was about $18 billion for 2007-08.
