New government yearbook contains Olympic mini-poster (with photo)
***********************************************************

The Government's latest yearbook - "Hong Kong 2008" - goes on sale tomorrow (July 22) at the Hong Kong Book Fair.

The yearbook features a tear-out mini-poster as a souvenir of the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic equestrian events staged in Hong Kong last year.

The cover design also brings out the Olympic spirit, with a stylised "08" featuring a collage of colourful photos from the Olympic and Paralympic equestrian events.

As with previous editions, the yearbook provides an in-depth and factual account of the Government's activities and policy initiatives, as well as the city's development throughout the year.

The yearbook's 21 chapters cover areas such as the economy, financial and monetary affairs, commerce and industry, employment, the environment, transport, culture and recreation, sport and the arts.

"Hong Kong 2008" has 13 colour sections showing more than 110 photographs. Highlights this year include the Olympic Games, the 2008 Legislative Council election, the Special Administrative Region's response to the Sichuan earthquake, heritage protection, the wine trade, creative industries, and charity efforts.

English and Chinese editions of the yearbook will be available at the Information Services Department (ISD) booth at the Hong Kong Book Fair from tomorrow.

People who purchase the yearbook at the ISD booth will receive 25% off the cover price of $156.

Purchasers are advised to bring their own carry bag, as plastic bags will no longer be provided at the booth.

More than 100 other government publications are also available for purchase at the ISD booth.
