The Legislative Council Subcommittee on Poverty Alleviation began its duty visit in Taiwan today (July 20) to study the experience of poverty alleviation and social enterprise development.
On its first day of visit to Taipei, the delegation met with the members of the Social Welfare and Environmental Hygiene Committee of the Legislative Yuan and discussed the implementation of measures to help the disadvantaged and low-income group. The delegation also visited the Council of Labour Affairs of the Executive Yuan, Department of Labour, Taipei City Government and the Vocational Training Centre. Members of the delegation observed a cooking class during the visit to the Vocational Training Centre to understand its operation.
The delegation will visit the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, the Children Are Us Foundation and the Eden Social Welfare Foundation tomorrow.
