The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, will leave for Singapore tomorrow afternoon (July 20) to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT).
At the MRT meeting to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday (July 21 and 22), APEC member economies will discuss measures to address the global economic crisis and restore economic growth, support the multilateral trading system, accelerate regional economic integration and strengthen APEC.
Mrs Lau will also hold bilateral meetings with ministerial counterparts on the sidelines of the meeting to discuss matters of mutual interest.
While in Singapore, Mrs Lau will also take the opportunity to exchange views with officials and the business sector of the country, including meeting with Singaporeˇ¦s Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Rear Admiral (NS) Lui Tuck Yew, meeting the Singapore Tourism Board to get first-hand information on Singaporeˇ¦s latest tourism initiatives and development direction and addressing a business luncheon.
Mrs Lau will return to Hong Kong on Thursday night (July 23).
