**********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund:

Three young talents have been awarded scholarships by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund for the year 2009-2010.

The awards, worth about $1.5 million in total, have been given to Miss Tiffany Au Kai-see, Mr Lam Kwan-fai and Mr Wong Chun-bong.  Miss Au will pursue her study in bassoon performance in the United Kingdom for two years.  Mr Lam and Mr Wong will attend a two-year course in composition and choreography respectively in the United States.

The three scholarship recipients gratefully acknowledged the funding support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club which enabled them to pursue further study in music or dance overseas.  As the scholarship provides financial support on tuition fee, subsistence allowance and return flight tickets, they will be able to concentrate on their study, and contribute to the development of arts in Hong Kong after they have finished their courses.

The three recipients met Chairman and Member of the Board of Trustees of the fund, Mr Frank Lee King-ting, and Mr Thomas Yiu Yu-ho; Chairman of the Music Audition Panel 2009-2010, Dr Chan Hing-yan; and Chairman and Member of the Dance Audition Panel 2009-2010, Mr Thomas Brown, and Ms Chu Kit, to express their gratitude.

Since its establishment in 1980, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund has awarded 259 music and dance scholarships amounting to about $39.6 million, benefiting 186 young local talents in music and dance.
