Young choreographer Chloe Wong tries to convey the relationship between humanity and nature in "Transitory in Nature ¡D Audible Growth" which will be staged in September.¡@She will express her mixed feelings of love and sorrow towards nature and hopes to arouse in audiences an awareness of what goes on around them.
The idea for this piece of choreography was inspired by her impression of man only thinking of the world from the human point of view, deciding what the world should and should not be, always wanting to change the world so that "we" can have a better life and a better civilisation. However, it is crucial to remind ourselves that we are part of nature and we actually need much less than we think we do.
Chloe Wong graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts majoring in Modern Dance in 2006. She then attended the master's degree programme jointly organised by Hollins University in the United States and the American Dance Festival and was sponsored to attend the Monaco Dance Forum 2006 during her studies. Her choreography has been seen in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Malaysia, New York, Virginia in the US and the American Dance Festival 2007. Her recent works include "The Invisible Force" for Hong Kong Podium Exchange Performance Series in 2009, Bare Stage Project: "That's Dance" at the City Festival 2009, "Hip" which was performed at the 5th Guangdong Modern Dance Festival in 2008 and "Time drifting" for the Emerging Choreographers Series commissioned by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and staged by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance.
"Transitory in Nature ¡D Audible Growth" is one of the attractions of the "New Force in Motion Series" presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be held at 8pm on September 11 and 12 (Friday and Saturday); and 5.30pm on September 13 (Sunday) at the Black Box Theatre, Kwai Tsing Theatre. Tickets priced at $160 are now available at URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis). A 10% discount applies to ticket purchase with "New Force in Motion Series: Having Fun, Seriously by Cody's Moving Group". A group booking discount is also available.
