USCED visits Chongqing

     The Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will leave for Chongqing today (July 6) to take part in the activities of Chongqing-Hong Kong Week.

     The event is organised by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government to foster economic and trade co-operation between Chongqing and Hong Kong and to promote Hong Kong in Chongqing.

     Mr So will officiate at the opening ceremony of Chongqing-Hong Kong Week tomorrow.  He will also attend a seminar to introduce to trade representatives of both places the details of Supplement VI to the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement, the complementary policies implemented in the new district of northern Chongqing, and the excellence of Hong Kong's professional services.

     In the afternoon, Mr So will visit the new district of northern Chongqing to get first-hand knowledge of the area's latest developments. He will address a dinner hosted by the HKSAR Government and officiate at the opening of a Chongqing-Hong Kong Week film festival in the evening.

     On July 8, Mr So will attend the "Hong Kong ¡V Your Platform to Go Global" seminar which seeks to update Mainland enterprises on Hong Kong's business environment and appeal to them to use Hong Kong as a platform to tap the international market.

     Mr So will return to Hong Kong in afternoon of July 8.
