The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:
Regarding the services of the eight Designated Flu Clinics (DFCs) and the confirmed human swine influenza patients admitted to public hospitals, a Hospital Authority spokesman provided the following updates today (July 3):
The Designated Flu Clinics today (as at 5pm) provide treatment to a total of 297 patients.
The Hospital Authority spokesman reminded the public that the eight DFCs had ceased the provision of general outpatient services. Patients with other illnesses are advised to seek medical treatment at other general outpatient clinics in the district or private practitioners. Chronic patients who have been pre-scheduled for follow up at the eight DFCs should proceed to their corresponding clinics with drug refill service according to their date of original appointment and bring along the appointment slip and Identity Card.
In the 24 hours to 2.30pm today, there were 44 newly confirmed cases of human swine influenza. This brings to 901 the total number of confirmed human swine influenza cases in Hong Kong. Currently, four confirmed cases are staying in public hospitals for treatment. Their condition is stable and none required intensive care.
Among the confirmed cases was a shroff clerk of United Christian Hospital (UCH). She travelled to Thailand from June 24-28. She had symptoms onset since June 26, presented with cough and fever. She attended Accident and Emergency Department of UCH on June 30 with persistent cough. Human swine influenza result was confirmed positive subsequent to clinical test. She is now under isolation with Tamiflu prescription at home. Her condition is stable.
The clerk wore surgical masks during the symptom onset. She did not have close contact with any patients as there was a glass panel in the shroff's office.
