Land Registry statistics for June

     The Land Registry today (July 3) released its statistics for June. From July, statistics on search of land registers by the public will also be released.  

     Land registration
    -------------------

* The number of sale and purchase agreements for all building units received for registration in June was 15,747 (+20.5% compared with May and +32.6% compared with June 2008).

* The 12-month moving average for June was 8,067 (4.2% above the 12-month moving average for May but 38.5% below that for June 2008).

* The total consideration of agreements in June was $58.2 billion (+32.2% compared with May and +1.2% compared with June 2008).

* Among the agreements, 13,805 were for residential units (+17.1% compared with May and +35.3% compared with June 2008).

* The total consideration for these residential agreements was $49.7 billion (+26.1% compared with May but -1.4% compared with June 2008).

     Sales of residential units refer to the sale and purchase agreements with payment of stamp duty.  These statistics do not include sales of units under the Home Ownership Scheme, the Private Sector Participation Scheme and the Tenants Purchase Scheme, except those after payment of premium.

     Figures on sale and purchase agreements received for the past 12 months, the year-on-year rate of change and breakdown figures on residential sales are also released.

     As deeds may not be lodged with the Land Registry until up to 30 days after the transaction, these statistics generally relate to land transactions in the previous month.

* The number of searches of land registers made by the public in June was 485,475 (+21.3% compared with May and +22.4% compared with June 2008).

     The figures cover searches made at the counter, through the self-service terminals and the IRIS Online Services.
