Guangdong ETO staff in Hainan to help families of HK Tour Group victims

     In relation to an incident in which two members of a Hong Kong tour group drowned on Hainan Island yesterday (June 29), a Government spokesman said today (June 30) that Immigration officers from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) had arrived in Hainan. They had met families of the victims to offer sympathy and assistance.

     The spokesman said the Immigration Department would continue to keep in touch with the GDETO, the tour group and the families concerned to render assistance.

     Residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868.
