The Government today (June 29) announced the appointment of five members to the Education Commission.
Newly appointed to the commission are Professor Lee Wing-on, Vice-President (Academic) and Deputy to the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Education and Ms Shirley Marie Therese Loo, the Development Director of a private publication company specialising in education for children and youth. Three incumbent members, Miss Gloria Leung Chi-kin, Mr Tong Chung-fan and Mr Wong Kwan-yu, are re-appointed.
All five members are appointed in their personal capacity for a two-year term with effect from Wednesday (July 1).
An Education Bureau spokesman said, "With these five membersˇ¦ rich experience in education and other sectors of the community, we are confident that they will be able to contribute useful ideas and provide effective support to the work of the commission."
The spokesman also thanked the two outgoing members, Mrs Dorothy Chan Cheng Mei-chu and Professor Leslie Lo Nai-kwai, for their valuable contribution to the work of the commission.ˇ¨
