The Government today (June 26) announced the appointment of Mr Ralph Lai Yin-ping as the Commissioner of the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation (ECIC) with effect from July 1.
Mr Lai was formerly Managing Director, South China Sales and Greater China Trade Finance of GE Capital, Asia Pacific.
The appointment was made by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development in exercise of the power delegated to her by the Chief Executive under section 6 of the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation Ordinance (Chapter 1115).
ECIC was established in 1966 to provide insurance protection for Hong Kong exporters against non-payment risks arising from commercial and political incidents. It is wholly owned by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, which also guarantees its liabilities.
