The Chief Executive had appointed Mr Rimsky Yuen Kwok-keung, Senior Counsel, as a new member of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission, a government spokesman announced today (June 26).
The Chief Executive has also re-appointed Mr Michael John Lintern-Smith, Professor Tsui Lap-chee and Dr Rosanna Wong Yick-ming as members of the commission.
"The terms of appointment for the four members will be from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2011," the spokesman said.
Mr Ambrose Ho, Senior Counsel, a serving member of the commission, will retire on June 30.
"We wish to express our gratitude to Mr Ho for the invaluable advice he has rendered to the commission during his term of office since 2005," the spokesman said.
The Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission advises or makes recommendations to the Chief Executive regarding the filling of vacancies in judicial offices, representations from a judicial officer concerning conditions of service referred to it by the Chief Executive, and any matter affecting judicial officers which may be prescribed or which the Chief Executive may refer to it.
Other members of the Commission are the Chief Justice (ex-officio Chairman), the Secretary for Justice (ex-officio member), Mr Justice Roberto Alexandre Vieira Ribeiro, Mr Justice Louis Tong Po-sun and Dr Edgar Cheng Wai-kin.
