Judicial Appointment

The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:

     The Judiciary today (June 25) announced the appointment of the Hon Mr Justice Frank Stock, Justice of Appeal of the Court of Appeal of the High Court, as Vice-President of the Court of Appeal of the High Court with effect from July 7, 2009.

     The biographical notes of the Hon Mr Justice Stock are as follows:

     Mr Justice Stock was born in Rhodesia in 1945. He obtained a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Liverpool in 1967.  He was called to the Bar in England and Wales in 1968 and to the Hong Kong Bar in 1984.  He was admitted as Barrister and Solicitor in Victoria in 1983.  He was appointed Queen's Counsel in Hong Kong in 1985.  He was in private practice since 1968.  In 1978, Mr Justice Stock joined the then Attorney General's Chambers in Hong Kong as Crown Counsel and became Solicitor General in 1987 until he left the Government in 1991.  He was appointed by the Hong Kong Judiciary as Deputy Judge and Judge of the High Court in 1991 and 1992 respectively. During 1993 to 1995, he was appointed the Chairman of Insider Dealing Tribunal.  He was appointed Justice of Appeal of the Court of Appeal of the High Court in 2000.
