The Government today (June 25) announced the appointment of Mrs Marigold Lau Lai Siu-wan, Deputy Director of Architectural Services, to succeed Mr Yue Chi-hang as Director of Architectural Services with effect from July 5. Mr Yue will proceed on pre-retirement leave the same day after 32 years of service with the Government.
Commenting on Mrs Lau's appointment, the Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue said, "Mrs Lau has extensive knowledge of the operation of the Architectural Services Department, as well as proven professional expertise and administrative skills. I am confident that she will be able to lead the department to meet the challenges ahead and continue to deliver quality service to the community."
On the retirement of Mr Yue, Miss Yue said, "Mr Yue has served with zeal and commitment in the civil service throughout the years. As the Director of Architectural Services, Mr Yue has successfully led the department in providing a comprehensive range of professional advice and services to the Government and quasi-government organisations for the design, planning, construction, maintenance and development of buildings and related facilities as well as overseeing subvented, joint-venture and entrusted projects. He has also provided a very good steer in the planning and implementation of important mega building projects like the West Kowloon Cultural District Development, the Tamar Development and the construction of the Cruise Terminal. We sincerely wish him a happy retirement."

Mr Yue Chi-hang

Aged 59, Mr Yue joined the Government as an Assistant Architect in October 1976. He was promoted to Chief Architect in February 1988, to Government Architect in March 1995 and to Deputy Director of Architectural Services in July 1998. He has been the Director of Architectural Services since November 2002.
Mrs Marigold Lau Lai Siu-wan

Aged 58, Mrs Lau joined the Government as an Assistant Architect in October 1977. She was promoted to Chief Architect in March 1993, to Government Architect in April 1997 and to Deputy Director of Architectural Services in June 2006.
