27 building plans approved in May

     The Buildings Department approved 27 building plans in May - 13 on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and six in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 15 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, seven were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments, and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 12 building projects that, when completed, will provide 84,963 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 840 units, and 36,406 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for eight building projects.

     The department also issued nine occupation permits ¡V two in Kowloon and seven  in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 42,176 square metres, involving 600 units, and 1,598 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in May totalled about $900 million.

     In addition, 12 demolition consents involving 12 building structures were issued.

     The department received 1,965 complaints against unauthorised building works in May, and issued 3,051 removal orders on unauthorised works.
