Man given community service order for assault on FEHD officer
******************************************************

A man who assaulted a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) officer was today (June 12) ordered by the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts to do 160 hours of community service.

The FEHD officer was attacked when he asked the defendant to clear goods which were causing obstruction to public access during inspections on shops at the junction of Kam Chi Path and Wah Chi Path in Ngau Chi Wan Village on February 3.

"Use of violence against public officers is not only wrong, but also carries legal consequences," an FEHD spokesman said.

"People should co-operate with law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties."
