Demand notes for Government rent issued

     The Lands Department has, in respect of properties subject to the Government Leases Ordinance and certain other properties, issued demand notes for Government rents in excess of $100 per annum for the half year ending June 24 and not exceeding $100 per annum to be paid only once every five years for the five years ending June 24.

     People can settle Government rent through various electronic means such as autopay, bank automated teller machines, Payment by Phone Service (PPS), bill payment services provided by banks and PPS by Internet.  

     Payment can also be made by sending a crossed cheque to PO Box  28000, Gloucester Road Post Office, Hong Kong, or in person at any post offices (except mobile post offices). For details of the post offices, please call 2921 2222 or visit Hongkong Postˇ¦s website (www.hongkongpost.com).

     Government rent payers who have not received their demand notes should call the departmentˇ¦s Government Rent and Premium Hotline on 2231 3033.

     Property buyers are strongly advised to instruct their solicitors to ensure that at the time of purchase the Government rent has been paid to date.

     For enquiries on outstanding accounts in respect of the above-mentioned Government rent, please call 2231 3033. If a written confirmation of accounts position is needed, an enquiry fee is payable for each enquiry per property.
