The Shenzhen Municipal Government today (May 26) announced a set of comprehensive reform plan for Shenzhen. The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) welcomes the proposal.
A Government spokesman said, ¡§The plan is a strategic move to implement the Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta (2008-2020). One of the major initiatives in today¡¦s plan is to further strengthen the close co-operation between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. This marks a big step forward in our bilateral relationship. The relevant departments of the HKSAR Government will carefully study the plan.¡¨
The spokesman said that the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, would soon visit Shenzhen to exchange views on the plan with the Shenzhen Municipal Government. In the spirit of promoting complementarity and mutual benefits, Mr Tang looked forward to opening up new prospects for both cities through the Hong Kong/Shenzhen co-operation meeting, a platform he co-chaired with Shenzhen¡¦s Mayor.
