Yuen Long food premises ordered to suspend business

     The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food premises in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

     The food premises (·s°OÂûµ°), at Shop D2, ground floor, Hope House, 60 Yau San Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (May 26) to June 8.

     "In June last year and March this year, there were two convictions in respect of unauthorised extension of food business at the food premises," a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

     "A total fine of $11,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension."

     He said the food premises also had convictions in August 2007 and April last year for washing equipment in open space and unauthorised extension of food business respectively.

     "A total fine of $5,000 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from June 23 to 29 last year," the spokesman said.

     He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
